On Friday, April 22 you are cordially invited to the Preschool Festival of the Arts. We invite you to stroll the gallery that has been created in the Parish Hall. Join us as the children perform international dances, and to sample the treats at the reception immediately following. The evening appears effortless and beautifully staged but it is the result of a year-long curriculum of art and music, of teachers working patiently and lovingly with the children who range in age from 2 years to 5 years.
Each piece of art is a labor of love. Each classroom focused on several artists throughout the year. The children learn about the artist and then emulate their work. Each child is encouraged to create their own artwork and we all know how hard it is to stand back when that nose would like so much better in the “right place”! Throughout the year, teachers work with different mediums to create priceless works of art with the children. This year there will be examples of works inspired by Van Gogh, Jim Dine, Piet Mondrian and Georgia O’Keeffe.
Music is also an integral part of the evening. As part of the daily curriculum, both in the classroom and during afternoon enrichment, the children learn dances from various countries around the world. We are very proud of our students and all that they have accomplished this year. We hope you will enjoy the evening!
