Over the past six weeks, the students of Saint Mark’s School collected a wide variety of items to send to our service men and women stationed overseas. Grade 8 students spearheaded the project with the help of the Dominguez family whose dad is currently deployed. Reagan (8th) and Maddie (6th) worked with all the classes to procure comfort items such as ChapStick®, gum, Rice Krispy Treats®, ramen noodles and hand sanitizer; all these things will be boxed into “care” packages and sent with handmade cards to our military personnel. Thanks to the hard work of our students, more than 10,000 individual items were collected! Earlier this week, Saint Mark’s School welcomed Mr. Gil Sanborn, Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army, CA Sierra Pacific, who thanked the school and the Dominguez family for their generosity. Everyone in the Saint Mark’s community is so proud of our students’ efforts and the way they’ve demonstrated our Episcopal commitments to community outreach and service work.
