Application Process

Each January and November an Admissions Information Night is held at Saint Mark’s School. Interested parent should call (909) 920-5565 or visit our website: www.stmarks-upland.org for the exact date and time. Brochures and application forms are made available at these events.

Parent are encouraged to visit the classrooms by appointment prior to applying. With the exception of scheduling kindergarten testing, appointments for testing for preschool through eighth may be scheduled by parents after they have visited the classroom.

Students who have applied for admission are tested for preschool/kindergarten readiness or other grade placement. Determination of readiness for Saint Mark’s School or appropriate grade placement in made by the faculty aided by standardized testing materials and/or curriculum currently in use at Saint Mark’s School. Observations of behavior at the time of testing and individual interviews are also important considerations. All prospective students are expected to have a good command of English.

Qualified siblings of students currently attending Saint Mark’s receive priority. Special consideration is given to qualified students who are members of the parish. Attention is given to balancing gender in each class and to maintaining a culturally, ethnically, and religiously diverse student body.

Preschool through eighth grade admissions decisions are made by the Admissions Committee in consultation with the school faculty and with the clergy of Saint Mark’s Church.

Letters of acceptance for Kindergarten are mailed on or near April 1. Responses are due back approximately April 14. Students are accepted into other grades as spaces become available.

Saint Mark’s School does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, ethnic origin, or religion. All students at Saint Mark’s may participate in all of the programs, classes, and activities of the school.
