Arts are an essential part of your child’s education. Enrichment classes for kindergarten through fifth Grade at Saint Mark’s include vocal music and art. All students are given the opportunity to play hand bells, chimes and Orff instruments. Electives offered for the Middle School include handbells, art, astronomy, debate, and drama.
Student art adorns every classroom, and children are encouraged to express themselves creatively in a variety of ways. Students in all grades receive weekly art instruction from the studio art teacher. Instructors focus on developing the artistic skills of each individual student with projects that are age-appropriate for every level. Fine and gross motor skills are always considered when the curriculum is developed. Students learn about sculpture, drawing, and painting through work with acrylic, pastels, watercolors, clay, papier-mâché, linoleum blocks, and much more. Our students’ art pieces are honored at our annual spring art show and other local art competitions, and many alumni go on to earn high school recognition in the arts.
Each spring, we celebrate our students’ talents and creativity with the Celebration of the Arts. Another highlight for our families is the Annual Drama Show Production.
