Lance Farr designed the mosaic and is executing it in partnership with his wife Barbara. The Farrs are parishioners at Saint Mark’s and are also the creators of the mosaic cross in the Parish Hall. He is a retired Orthopedic PA who studied Art in college and Barbara is an ER nurse. His contemporary design incorporates a blend of Jerusalem and Crusader cross motifs as well as aspects of the Carrington family crest. The three crosses represent Calvary; one in gleaming 24 carat gold and the other two in red to represent the thieves. The mosaic is a contemporary design utilizing Linda’s favorite colors of green, blue and purple. A sample of the design is found on the bulletin board outside the church. The Farrs donate their talents as a way of giving back to the community and to glorify God. The scheduled completion date is June 3rd, in time for graduation. This gift is truly a labor of love and a dream realized thanks to the class of 2016.
Several years ago, Linda Carrington, wife of Bill Carrington, worked tirelessly to update and restore Saint Mark’s Church. She chaired the Buildings & Grounds Committee that installed the HVAC system, replaced the roof, renovated bathrooms and installed the ADA compliant ramps. The main doors were replaced, the baptismal font from the original Saint Mark’s found a permanent place in the church and work was commissioned to create a new pulpit, credence table and altar railings. Now, as the year comes to a close, Linda’s wish for a mosaic in the center aisle is being granted by the 8th grade class of Saint Mark’s Episcopal School.
